Gov. Mifflin’s Miller takes 7th in girls’ 3A at districts

District 3 held its cross country championsh­ips on Oct. 27 at Big Spring in Newville.

Girls

CLASS 3A >> Gov. Mifflin’s Andrea Miller was the top Berks finisher with a seventh-place finish in 19:42.2. The senior won the Berks County championsh­ip a week earlier.

Other top Berks finishers in 3A were Wilson freshman Ella Kahn (16th, 19:57.7), Gov. Mifflin junior Krystalyn Super (26th, 20:20.10), Exeter junior Kat Kerchner (28th, 20:25.6), Exeter freshman Helene Shevick (29th, 20:28.50).

Dallastown, led by race winner Emily Schuler, placed first as team, followed by Wilson, Gov. Mifflin and Exeter.

CLASS 2A >> In a race dominated by Northern standout Marlee Starliper (17:19.70), Berks Catholic freshman Abby Wolf was the area’s top finisher (13th, 20:40.70). Saints junior Alexa Junikiewic­z was 20th (21:02.50). Leading their respective schools, Hamburg junior Quinn Holl led the Hawks in 44th (21:50.60), Jadyn HeckHoppes was Schuylkill Valley’s leader in 55th (22:12) and freshman Lauren Paules was best for Fleetwood in 71st (22:48).

CLASS 1A >> High Point Baptist senior Anna Steich broke the tape in 19:38.30 to win the title while Kutztown sophomore Erika Moriarty scored a bronze finish (20:51.10).

Kutztown senior Madison Keiser took 5th in 20:57.90 and freshman Sophia Arnold crossed in 13th (22:00.40). The Cougars placed third as a team, their 92 points trailing Camp Hill (57) and Annville-Cleona (82).

Boys

CLASS 3A >> Wilson junior Christian Gagliardi (20th, 17:15.10) and Gov. Mifflin senior Nate Harding (25th, 17:25.10) were the county’s top finishers.

CLASS 2A >> Wyomissing’s Ben Kuhn won the race in 16:18. Hamburg’s Levi Halye took 14th in 17:36.60. Schuylkill Valley freshman Luke Seymour took 19th (17:43.30).

CLASS 1A >> Kutztown sophomore Mitchell Brett placed first in 17:03.40. The Cougars placed third as a team with senior Michael Hill (20th, 18:45) and junior Derek Hanna (22nd, 18:54.90) aiding the cause.
