Open Mic at the Half Moon Cafe: 7 to 9 p.m., Clay on Main, 313 Main St., Oley. Meadowood sponsors monthly open mic. Musicians invited to studio to perform up to three tunes (about 15 minutes). Bring instrument­ation that doesn’t require significan­t set-up time and choose songs appropriat­e for a family audience. Donate $5 to help keep the lights on. Park in nearby church lot, not on the street.

Funky Ferments Workshop: 2 to 4 p.m., Clay on Main, 313 Main St., Oley. Wendy, of The Cottage Kitchen, as well as Barb and Tom, owners of Oley Valley Organics farm and store, will share their knowledge on the ancient craft of fermenting foods. In class, students create beginnings of sauerkraut to take home using the organic cabbage provided. Admission charged.

Dec. 8

Decorate A Cheese or Butter Bell Workshop: 10 a.m. to noon, Clay on Main, 313 Main St., Oley. Dairy keeps best in bells, which are like upside-down bowls placed on platters. These vessels keep cheese and butter fresh and free of unwanted odors, while still allowing them to breathe and continue to mature. Come out to Clay on Main and choose a butter and cheese bell, wheel-thrown by our master potters, to decorate. The studio will provide underglaze paints, and students will be able to pick up their pieces in a week – perfect for bringing to our next workshop Feb. 12, The Art of Cheesemaki­ng. Admission charged (includes a wheelthrow­n bell and platter).

Oley Library

Preschool storytime: Fridays 10:30 a.m. While focus is preschool ages, lapsit infants or young homeschool children are welcome as well. We are not a “hush” library and encourage children to join us who may be new to organized events. Storytime is a great program for children preparing for preschool and kindergart­en.

Movie night: new “Harry Potter” Book and movie club. Read the book, then come to library to watch movie on first Thursday of month 5-7 p.m. September is “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”

Home School Hook Ups: 3rd Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. RSVP so we can plan for seating and supplies.
