Daniel Boone Boys basketball

READING HIGH 74, DANIEL BOONE 32 >> At the Geigle Complex Jan. 8, Wesley Butler scored his 1,000th career point to lead the Red Knights (2-1, 7-5) over the Blazers (0-3, 6-7).

Butler finished with a gamehigh 21 points. Chaunce Johnson scored 14 points and Logan Hinkle scored 13 for Daniel Boone.

CONRAD WEISER 35, DANIEL BOONE 26>> At Birdsboro Jan. 7, Derra Townes scored 11 points and Grace George added eight to lead the Scouts past the Blazers.

Courtney Gabbett scored 11 points to lead Daniel Boone. BERKS CATHOLIC 48, DANIEL BOONE

19>> At Lloyd Wolf Gymnasium Jan. 10, Meghan Leininger had 11 points and Sarah Leininger 10 points to lead the Saints past the Blazers (0-4).

Courtney Gabbett lead Daniel Boone with seven points. The Blazers scored 14 of their 19 points at the free throw line.

DANIEL BOONE 69, MUHLENBERG 6 >> At Birdsboro Jan. 9, Josh Smith and Gavin Richard scored falls for the Blazers (5-0, 10-0) and Colby Pyle added a decision as they defeated the Muhls (0-5, 1-11). Brian Czaus had a fall for Muhlenberg, which forfeited nine weight classes.

Girls swimming

DANIEL BOONE 92, POTTSVILLE 86>> At Pottsville Jan. 8, Rachel Woomer was a two-race winner for the Blazers as they outswam the Crimson Tide.

Woomer took the 200 free (2:05.01) and 100 fly (1:17.64) in addition to swimming the lead leg of Boone’s winning 200 free relay (1:52.75).

DANIEL BOONE 2, OLEY VALLEY 1 >> At Jay Lanes Jan. 7, Zerek Herold and Spencer Witzel rolled 667 series to key the Blazers’ win over the Lynx.

Alex Horton chipped in for Boone with a 635 series. DANIEL BOONE 3, TWIN VALLEY 0 >> At Jay Lanes Jan. 9, Zarek Herold rolled a 640 series to lead the Blazers in their match with the Raiders.

Alex Horton followed for Boone with a 632 series, and Robert Zarrilli with a 612.

DANIEL BOONE 2, OLEY VALLEY 1 >> At Jay Lanes Jan. 7, Alyssa Blood rolled a 585 series to lead the Blazers in their match with the Lynx. Also turning in 500 series for Boone were Mollie Maggs (550) and Emily Wedemeyer (510). DANIEL BOONE 3, TWIN VALLEY 0 >> At Jay Lanes Jan. 9, Amanda Marley and Mollie Maggs had 600 series in the Blazers’ match with the Raiders.

Marley’s 630 was tops, and Maggs had a 608.

Exeter Boys basketball

EXETER 73, MUHLENBERG 64 >> At Laureldale Jan. 8, Wesley Murray scored 18 points and Joe Rohrbach had 10 points and 18 rebounds as the Eagles held off the Muhls in a wild Berks Conference Division I game at Laureldale.

The Eagles withstood a 20-point first-half run by the Muhls and managed to lead at the half, thanks to 17 points from Murray. Exeter scored the first 14 points of the second half to build a 16-point lead and Muhlenberg never got closer than eight.

Alex Javier had 14 points for Exeter.

WILSON 57, EXETER 38 >> At West Lawn Jan. 11, Stevie Mitchell scored 16 points and Evin Timochenko had 14 points and nine rebounds as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten with a Berks Conference Division I victory over the Eagles.

The 12-0 start is the best for the Bulldogs since 2013-14, when they won the Berks Conference championsh­ip and claimed 26 victories.

Matt Davidheise­r came off the bench to lead the Eagles (1-3, 6-5), scoring a career-high 14 points. Exeter was within 10 points early in the fourth quarter before Wilson pulled away with a 12-2 run.

PENN MANOR 61, EXETER 52 >> At Reiffton Jan. 12, Ty Erisman hit six 3-pointers and finished with a team-leading 21 points to give the Comets (5-5) the upper hand over the Eagles (6-6).

For Exeter, Alex Javier hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points.

Girls basketball

EXETER 40, MUHLENBERG 32 >> At Reiffton Jan. 7, the Eagles were led by Kelly Fetter’s 13 point outing as they topped the Muhls.

Exeter broke open a close game in the second half. Taylor Walker and Genesis Martinez had 12 and 11 points respective­ly for Muhlenberg.

WILSON 33, EXETER 23 >> At Reiffton Jan. 10, the Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 10-2 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a victory.

Erin Doyle scored four of her 10 points in the fourth quarter. Wilson entered the final quarter leading just 23-21. Kelly Fetter scored a game-high 12 points for Exeter (1-3).

PENN MANOR 40, EXETER 33 >> At Reiffton Jan. 12, Morgan Miller had eight of her game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter to help the Comets (6-7) edge the Eagles (6-8).

For Exeter, Michelle Mesquita had a team-leading 11 points.

Wrestling

READING HIGH 37, EXETER 36 >> At Reiffton Jan. 9, Gino Gaspari, Mason Smith and Corey Jenkins scored falls for the Red Knights to help them hold off the Eagles. Robert Unruh had a pin at 220 for Exeter, which also got a technical fall from Jevin Guldin (113) and a major decision from Brandon Borton (132).

Boys swimming

EAGLES SPLIT >> At Reiffton Jan. 10, Exeter went 1-1 in a threeway meet of Central Penn League schools. The Eagles outswam Twin Valley 136-25 but were topped in turn by Muhlenberg, 112-74.

Chris Scoboria figured in on three Eagle firsts, winning the 200 IM (2:07.06) and 100 back (56.95) while swimming the anchor leg of Exeter’s winning 200 medley relay (1:47.79) against both schools.

Girls swimming

EXETER GOES 1-1 >> At Reiffton Jan. 10, the Eagles split a threeway meet between Central Penn League schools. The Eagles handled Twin Valley 103-68 but were handled in turn by Muhlenberg 114-66.

Taylor Stech gave Exeter a sweep of the 100 back, clocking a 1:07.14. Katherine Kerchner won the 200 free (2:09.44) and 500 free (5:45.28) against Twin Valley, as did Camille Griffith the 100 fly (1:08.23) and Olivia Haines the 100 breast (1:21.93). Makenzie Gray was tops in diving for the Eagles against Muhlenberg.

EXETER 3, TWIN VALLEY 0 >> At Hiester Lanes Jan. 7, Ethan Reimert rolled a 603 series to lead the Eagles past the Raiders.

Tanner Schwenk chipped in with a 589 series for Exeter, with Luke Ravel adding a 555. EXETER 3, ANTIETAM 0 >> At Hiester Lanes Jan. 9, Tanner Schwenk’s 629 series keyed the Eagles in their match with Antietam.

Ethan Rimel gave Exeter a 590 series, and Luke Ravel a 565.

Girls bowling

EXETER 3, TWIN VALLEY 0 >> At Hiester Lanes Jan. 7, Hallie Shollenber­ger rolled a 536 series for the Eagles in their match with the Raiders.

Megan Myers and Kailyn George kicked in with respective 530 and 503 series for Exeter.

EXETER 3, ANTIETAM 0 >> At Hiester Lanes Jan. 9, Megan Myers rolled a 610 series to lead the Eagles in their match with Antietam.

Hailee Shollenber­ger chipped in with a 567 for Exeter.

Gov. Mifflin Boys basketball

WILSON 52, GOV. MIFFLIN 40 >> At Shillingto­n Jan. 8, the Bulldogs outscored the Mustangs 31-22 in the second half to pull away from a three-point halftime lead. Stevie Mitchell had 27 points for Wilson (3-0, 11-0), Bryce Black had 16 points for Gov. Mifflin (1-2, 5-6).

GOV. MIFFLIN 63, DANIEL BOONE 56 >> At Birdsboro Jan. 11, Bryce Black went 9-for-9 at the free throw line in overtime as the Mustangs (2-2, 6-6) held off the Blazers (0-4, 6-8).

Black finished with a careerhigh 30 points, going 16-for16 from the foul line. Johnson (22 points) made a last-second 3-poointer in regulation to send it to overtime. Matt Okuniewski scored 14 points for Daniel Boone. LAMPETER-STRASBURG 49, GOV.

MIFFLIN 38 >> At New Holland Jan. 12, Seth Beers scored a game-high 20 points to lead Lampeter-Strasburg over Gov. Mifflin 49-38 in the Battle at the Spot.

Bryce Harman had 12 points and six rebounds for the Mustangs (6-7); Cam’Ron Stewart added six points, six rebounds and three assists and Josh Klahr had seven points, five rebounds and three assists. Mifflin was within five points midway through the third quarter, at 23-18, and was within 41-34 midway through the fourth.

Girls basketball

Wilson 56, Gov. Mifflin 44 >> At West Lawn Jan 7, Kaya Burkhart’s 21 points and eight rebounds helped the Bulldogs knock off the Mustangs.

Wilson opened the second quarter with a 17-4 run, and Mifflin never pulled closer than five after that point. Destiny White led GM with her 17-point effort. TWIN VALLEY 39, GOV. MIFFLIN 36 >> At Shillingto­n Jan. 10, Stella Mollica’s 3-pointer with two seconds left rimmed out and the Raiders held on to defeat the Mustangs.

Peyton McDaniel finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds for Twin Valley. Ta’Shonna WrightGask­ins had 12 points for Mifflin.

NAZARETH 54, GOV. MIFFLIN 39 >> At Shillingto­n Jan. 12, Talya Brugler scored 18 points and the Eagles made 17-of-19 foul shots, which decided the game against the Mustangs (7-6).

Destiny White had 12 points and Ta’Shonna Wright-Gaskins had 11 points to lead Gov. Mifflin.

Wrestling

WILSON 41, GOV. MIFFLIN 27 >> At West Lawn Jan. 9, the Bulldogs countered a two-forfeit card by scoring four pins and two major decisions in their match with the Mustangs.

GM kept pace with Wilson in the early going, aided by Devin Simpson’s pin at 126. Takoda MacNeill had the Mustangs’ other fall in the 195-pound finale.

GOV. MIFFLIN 124, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 56 >> At Shillingto­n Jan. 8, Shane Stauffer, Aiden McCurley and Ben Gerhard each won pairs of individual races to key the Mustangs’ victory over the Panthers.

Stauffer took the 200 free (1:50.35) and and 100 fly (55.42) while McCurley did the same in the 50 free (21.98) and 100 free (48.25). Gerhard headed the 200 IM (2;08.86) and 100 back (59.94) as GM swept the top spot in all events.

GOV. MIFFLIN 125, SCHUYLKILL VALLEY 60 >> At Shillingto­n Jan. 8, Ava Enriquez and Courtney Hubric won two individual races apiece to help the Mustangs outpace the Panthers.

Enriquez took the 200 IM (2;14.85) and 100 fly (58.50), with Hubric doing the same in the 50 free (24.69) and 100 back (1:04.62). Marlee Rickert figured in on both SV’s wins, taking the 100 free (53.31) and swimming the lead leg of the Panthers’ 200 medley relay (1:53.12).

GOV. MIFFLIN 3, HAMBURG 0 >> At Hiester Lanes Jan. 7, Clayton Inderbitze­n rolled a 663 series to lead the Mustangs past the Hawks.

Alex Coldren followed for Hamburg with a 631, and Mitchell Brown added a 613. WYOMISSING 2, GOV. MIFFLIN 1 >> At Wyomissing Jan. 9, Braeden Minnich and Owen Drago rolled 647 series to lead the Spartans to victory over the Mustangs.

Alex Coldren’s 640 series was high for Mifflin.

GOV. MIFFLIN 3, HAMBURG 0 >> At Hiester Lanes Jan. 7, Emily Breidegam’s 656 series led the Mustangs in their match with the Hawks.

Following Breidegam for GM were Andrea Addis (651) and Alyssa Breidegam (638). GOV. MIFFLIN 3, WYOMISSING 0 >> At Berks Lanes Jan. 9, Emily Breidegam and Emily Garl set the high standard for the Mustangs in their match with the Spartans.

Breidegam’s 697 series was the match leader, one pin more than Garl’s 676. Alyssa Breidegam followed with a 676 for GM.
