Rep. Houlahan chooses district staff

- By Michael P. Rellahan

A Franklin resident and former candidate for the state House of Representatives has been chosen as district director for U.S. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan’s offices, according to a press release.

Houlahan named Sue Walker as the person to oversee her district operations, citing her wealth of experience, including 15 years as a public school educator at Avon Grove School District.

In 2018, Walker ran against incumbent state Rep. John Lawrence, R13th, of West Grove, but came up short on Election Day.

“I am proud to join Rep. Houlahan’s staff here in Chester County and Berks County,” said Walker. “I have spent the past 20 years here in Chester County and am excited to serve the 6th District in this new role. I believe in (Houlahan’s) vision for our community and look forward to working with her to increase access to affordable and quality health care, bring good paying jobs with good benefits to our district, and provide exceptional services to our constituents.”

For the last 15 years, Walker worked with the Avon Grove district as a volunteer coordinator, Title I instructor for reading remediation, and manager of the high school library. Prior to 2004, she was president of the local MOMS club — a national organization for stay-at-home mothers. She also worked as an employment recruiter.

Houlahan, who has yet to select an office location in the county, said she had faith in Walker’s ability to oversee her local staff.

“I have built several organizations in southeastern Pennsylvania and understand that building a great operation starts with hiring excellent staff, and I am excited to bring on Sue to run our district office and look forward to working together to advocate for our constituents,” she said.

Joining Walker will be three people given the titles of constituent advocate — Aaron Thomas, Noah Levine, and Yvonne Fonte.

Houlahan’s release stated that her offices will be opening up in the two counties that encompass the 6th District in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, constituents can contact her office by visiting Houlahan.house. gov/contact or by calling 202-225–4315.
