‘Unleashing Your Inner Opera Fan’ returns Feb. 1
The “Unleashing Your Inner Opera Fan” series consists of presentations highlighting an upcoming Met in HD Opera. Each is about 60 to 80 minutes long, including multimedia presentation, featured guest artist, followed by dessert, coffee and wine. The presentations begin at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
David Richie will introduce you to Bizet’s classic opera, “Carmen.” Meet the most famous Gypsy of them all, and learn about her people and her fate. The presentation will also feature Contralto,
Robin Bier, singing a set of beautiful songs in a Spanish vein.
Presentation title “Opéra Noir” or “Au Revoir Roma” will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, at Phoebe Berks, 1 Reading Drive, Wernersville. Refreshments served. Guest artists are Robin Bier, contralto, and Caleb Flick, piano.
Bier holds her bachelor’s degree in voice from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and postgraduate degrees in solo-voice ensemble singing and historical performance practice from the University of York in England. Robin is based in Philadelphia, where she teaches privately, coaches the choristers of Bryn Athyn Cathedral, and periodically guest coaches the early music ensemble at Temple University. Robin is a student of German baritone Christian Immler.
Tickets are $20 for adults and seniors, $15 for students and young people under 30. Payment can be made at the door by cash, check, VISA or MC or via PayPal at the BOC web site.
