It didn’t have the greatest quantity of high-finishing wrestlers on Jan. 11-12.

But the quality of Hamburg’s contingent made up the difference at the Berks County Interscholastic Athletic Association (BCIAA) wrestling Individual Championships. As a result, the Hawks were able to charge toward a team championship in the two-day competition at Reading High’s Geigle Complex.

With a tournament-best five individual champions from its 10 medalists, Hamburg amassed 211 points to lead the team standings. Daniel Boone, the first-day leader, ended up second (190.5) on the strength of 12 medal-round qualifiers, edging out Wilson (188) and its four individual titlists.
