West Chester Friends School to start classes Aug. 24
West Chester Friends School will open the 20202021 school year on Aug. 24 on its historic campus for full-day, full- week, in-person teaching and learning.
“Our goal has been to develop an in-person plan that takes into account the safety of our students and teachers,” said Head of School Brian Fahey. “Foremost on our minds has been reducing our density and reaching the 6-feet distancing between students/ desks that is required by the state’s guidelines, and we are pleased to be able to do those things.”
Other safety mitigations at West Chester Friends School include maintaining small cohorts of students to minimize exposure, partnering with families to conduct daily symptoms screenings and following all CDC, Pennsylvania Department of Education and Chester County Department of Public Health recommendations and requirements for hygiene and cleaning.
Students and teachers will wear masks, as recently mandated by the state.
For children who have to miss school for any reason, or families who prefer a hybrid or full-time online learning environment, WCFS will offer its Connected Classroom, an enriched, robust livestream option.
West Chester Friends School provides early childhood and elementary aged students with the essential foundation they require to become lifelong learners, contributing members of their communities and citizens of the world.
WCFS offers impressive advantages to students because it is small by design and dedicated exclusively to the education of children in preschool through fifth grade.
