Maidencreek Township teen earns rank of Eagle
Jeffrey Davenport’s Eagle Scout project added a bike fix-it station, landscaping and new signage to trailhead in Cumru
Jeffrey Davenport, 18, son of Matt and Stephanie Davenport of Maidencreek Township, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
For his Eagle Scout project, Davenport organized the construction and installation of improvements for the Schuylkill River Greenway Association, including a bike fix-it station, landscaping and new signage, to the Marshall Trailhead of the Schuylkill River Trail at Angstadt Lane in Cumru Township. The project provides an enhanced experience for bikers and outdoor enthusiasts who utilize the trail that links Berks County with Valley Forge and beyond to Philadelphia.
He is a member of Troop 183, sponsored by Maidencreek Church, Maidencreek Township, where he has been senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, troop representative and patrol leader
Davenport has earned 50 merit badges.
He is an Vigil Honor member of Kittatinny Lodge No. 5, Order of the Arrow, and is serving his second term as lodge vicechief of administration. He has represented the lodge at the 2018 National Order of the Arrow Conference hosted by Indiana University and National Leadership Seminar training in Alpine, N. J.
His special Scouting activities include serving on Hawk Mountain Council’s National Youth Leadership Training Program culminating with his role as senior patrol leader of the course in 2019 and attending the 2019 National Youth Leadership Training Academy course held in Washington, D.C.
He is a 12th-grader at Fleetwood High School, where he is a member of the soccer and basketball teams, National Honor Society, Rho Kappa National History Honor Society and FBLA. He is involved in the music programs, serving as the marching band’s percussion section co- leader, percussionist for the Cadillacs Jazz Band and is a member of numerous vocal groups including, men’s chorus and Choraliers.
