The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance has sold 14.4 acres of land in Ontelaunee Township to McGrew Enterprises LLC, doing business as Crownstone Equipment.

The parcel, which sits next to the Rutter’s at the northwest corner where Route 61 meets Route 73, will eventually have a Bobcat dealership. Bobcat specializes in construction and agricultural equipment.

Crownstone was created in 2018 when McGrew acquired Bobcat dealerships in York and Adams counties. The company has since expanded to Lancaster, Frederick, Md., and Hagerstown,

Md.

“GRCA welcomes Crownstone Equipment, a well-established franchise to Berks County in which new jobs are created in the industrial equipment sales and service industry,” said Landon Bernheiser, director of real estate & special projects, GRCA, in a statement. “McGrew Equipment Company has a history of excellence and will make a great member of our Berks County business community.”

The future Bobcat of Berks County will utilize six of the 14.4 acres in a 12,000 square-foot building with 15 to 20 full-time employees. It plans to open in the fall.

Usage of the additional eight acres is to be determined. The company joins

Rutter’s and Manderbach Ford as a new business in the area.

“Crownstone Equipment is excited to add the future Bobcat of Reading to our existing lineup of Bobcat dealerships – Bobcat of Lancaster, Bobcat of York, Bobcat of Adams County, Bobcat of Hagerstown, and Bobcat of Frederick,” said McGrew Companies President

Greg McGrew, in a statement. “We look forward to providing the utility of the Bobcat brand to the community with our offering of new and used machine inventory, as well as rentals, parts, and service offerings. We look forward to building new relationships and servicing your needs in Berks County.”
