-

Dorothea N. (Fields) Raub, 84, of Blandon, wife of Ernest C. Raub, passed away on Wednesday, August 4 in their home. Born in Haycock Township, Bucks County, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Naomi E. (Meyers) Fields. She is predeceased by her sister Shirley and brother Bill.

Surviving with her husband, are sons Russell and wife, Kellie; Richard; David, Sr.; Timothy and partner, Thomas; Grandchildren Ashlee and fiancée, Ricky; David, Jr. and partner, Dawn; Alison and husband Aaron; Great-grandchild Makenzie; and dear to her heart children Leah, Jacob, Ryan, Jessica, Jaiden and Kaelyn.

As a student, Dottie started working in the school kitchen to earn enough money to pay for her lunches. In addition to taking care of the farm animals and cooking family dinners, she worked in her parents’ store until closing each night – all while completing her homework assignments and practicing her clarinet enough to be selected for Bucks-Mont Band.

After Dot and Ernie married in 1954, she helped her husband build their first house and mixed cement just as perfectly as she mixed the ingredients for her delicious cakes, pies, sticky buns and thousands of Christmas cookies.

While raising four sons with varied activities and interests, she volunteered to help clean homes for elderly church members, cook countless meals for sick and injured friends and strangers, and donated her time and culinary skills to raise money for many organizations and school activities.

Always a hard worker and self-motivated learner, Dorothea continued her education at MCCC and Immaculata University in Dietetics & Nutrition. As a cancer survivor, she demonstrated perseverance while raising her sons and working as a cook to so many other children by providing meals, care and transportation for special-needs children.

After retiring in 1999, Dot loved cruise ships and winters in Florida with Ernie. Once her house was spotless each day, she enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, babysitting and vacationing with her grandchildren, completing jigsaw puzzles, and entering (and usually winning) recipe and baking contests.

During the past fifteen years, she took care of the love of her life after Ernest experienced a paralyzing stroke; moreover, Mr. and Mrs. Raub were looking forward to their 67th wedding anniversary next month. Her unending care and love for him as well as helping other residents in their adult community reflected her faith in Jesus Christ. She will not soon be forgotten.
