3 Berks athletes are Academic All-Americans
Three Berks high school graduates who have competed for Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference schools have been named Division II Academic AllAmericans by College
Sports Information Directors of America.
Gov. Mifflin grad Rachel Johnson, a rising senior swimmer at IUP, was named to the first team in women’s at-large. Wilson grad Molly Reinhart, a grad student at West Chester, was named to the women’s at-large second team. Fleetwood grad Lauren
Lister, who will be returning to Millersville for a fifth season, was named to the third team in women’s basketball.
This year’s awards were based on career statistics. To be nominated, a studentathlete had to have a cumulative 3.25 grade-point average over at least two years and be a significant contributor in his or her sport.
The at-large team includes athletes from fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
Johnson, a hospitality major, has a 4.0 cumulative GPA. She also earned All-American honors in five events at the NCAA Championships. She finished 10th in the 100 breaststroke, 15th in the 200 breast and helped three relays break school records. She had three individual second-place finishes at the PSAC Championships.
Reinhart had a 4.0 GPA in grad school as she is working toward a master’s degree in literacy. She had a 3.91 GPA as an undergrad.
Lister graduated in May with a 3.66 GPA and a bachelor’s degree in childhood education. The school said she plans to return for her final season of eligibility in 2021-22.
The PSAC did not have a basketball season in 202021 because of the pandemic.
