Birdsboro Area Churches

20th Anniversar­y of 9⁄11 Memorial Service: rememberin­g the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001and honoring first responders at a service on Sept. 11at 2p.m. the service will be held at abundant life church, 400 W. Second St., Birdsboro, and is sponsored by Birdsboro area churches. Bryan Koch will be the guest speaker.

Huff’s Union Church

Pig Roast Fundraiser: huffs Union church is having a fundraiser in the park on Sept. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. We will be offering meals that include a pulled pork sandwich, ear of corn, coleslaw, and a drink. the meals can be enjoyed in our park or can be taken out. the cost of each meal is $8. Desserts will also be available for sale. to purchase tickets ahead of time, call the church office at 610-845-2626. Meals can be bought on the day of the event as well, on a first-come, first served basis. in honor of this special day in the history of our country, we plan to donate 10% of our proceeds to the Seisholtzv­ille fire company. and we’ll also play patriotic music in the park.

Christ Lutheran Church

222 NIANTIC ROAD, BARTO Sept. 5: worship on the 15th Sunday after Pentecost with a holy communion worship service at 9a.m. Pastor Matthew finney will be leading the congregati­on in worship and preaching the sermon. our assistant for the 9a.m. service will be Sue hoffman and our greeters/Ushers are roxanne and Butch fox. altar guild this morning is open and counting team is “c”. Prior to the worship service, coffee & conversati­on will be held at 8:30 in the Welcome center and then after worship there will be coffee & conversati­on as well.

Sept. 6: church office closed to observe labor Day.

Sept. 7: Worship & Music committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the welcome center.

Sept. 8: the handbell choir will begin rehearsals at 6:30 p.m. followed by the start-up of the Senior choir at 7:30 p.m. if you are interested in joining one or both of these choirs, we’d love to have you and we will see you on Sept. 8.

Sept. 10: office will be open for Pastor Matt’s office hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. only.

Sept. 5: join us in the sanctuary for worship at 9:30 a.m. on the 15th Sunday after Pentecost. communion is celebrated every Sunday. on this Sunday, a service of healing will also be held. the sermon text for the day is Mark 7:24-37– “christ healing a little girl and a deaf man.” they were astounded beyond measure, saying, “he has done everything well; he even makes the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

Community Clothing Rack: will be open Sept. 8, 15 and 22 for shopping. the clothing rack is operating from 1 to 4 p.m., beginning in September. Masks and physical distancing are required. enter through far door - sanitize hands. four clients will enter - with a 20 minute shopping time limit. exit through hall door - again - sanitizing hands. restrooms will not be available for client use.

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church

Sept. 5: the rev. christian McMullan will conduct the 9:30 a.m. holy communion service in the church. all are welcome. all church service attendees required to wear a mask and practice social distancing of at least 6feet. We will not be singing as we are accustomed to. Please do not attend services if you feel sick. Weekly services are also offered online via the St. luke’s obelisk Youtube channel. it is our hope and prayer that everyone stays safe and well during these difficult times.

Trinity Lutheran Church

Scout Troop 511 Hoagie Sales: resume in September, on 3rd tuesday of the month. Place orders on the 2nd tuesday of the month. $5 each for ham, turkey, italian or cheese with lettuce, onion, tomato, sides hot peppers or sweet peppers, italian or mayo packets. to volunteer and to order as a new person, see Kitty isett. Pick up will be at the old store every month. thank you to those who have ordered hoagies in the past years.

In Ian’s Boots: is accepting used sporting equipment to distribute to needy children and youth developmen­t programs both here and around the world.
