St. Luke’s Lutheran Church ROUTE 73 AND NEIFFER ROAD, OBELISK

Sept. 12: the rev. christian McMullan will conduct the 8a.m. holy communion and the 10:15a.m. worship services in the church. all are welcome. all church service attendees required to wear a mask and practice social distancing of at least 6feet. We will not be singing as we are accustomed to. Please do not attend services if you feel sick. Weekly services are also offered online via the St. luke’s obelisk Youtube channel. it is our hope and prayer that everyone stays safe and well during these difficult times.

Sept. 12: join us in the sanctuary for worship at 9:30a.m. for the 16th Sunday after Pentecost. communion is celebrated every Sunday. the sermon text for the day is Mark 8:27-38– Peter’s confession of faith. he asked them, “But who do you say that i am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Messiah.”

Church Picnic: following the service in the sanctuary, a picnic will be held in the pavilion. there will be a catered luncheon. guessing jars, Bingo, and lots of fun! We continue to take precaution­s: Should you not feel ready to return to indoor worship, please listen on 91.3fM, or watch as we livestream at stlukegilb­ertsville.org. all services will be livestream­ed, no matter where the service is held.

Community Clothing Rack: open Sept. 15and 22for shopping from 1to 4p.m. Masks and physical distancing are required. enter through far door - sanitize hands. four clients will enter with a 20minute shopping time limit. exit through hall door - again - sanitizing hands. restrooms will not be available for client use.

Sept. 12: worship on the 16th Sunday after Pentecost with the worship service at 9a.m. Pastor Matthew finney will be leading the congregati­on in worship and preaching the sermon. our assistant for the 9a.m. service will be Diane houck and our greeters/ Ushers are gerry flicker. altar guild this morning will be chershe Derr and counting team is “c”. Prior to the worship service, coffee & conversati­on will be held at 8:30 in the Welcome center and then after worship there will be coffee & conversati­on as well. confirmati­on Picnic will be held from 4to 6p.m. at the home of Butch and roxanne fox. this picnic is for students who will be eligible for confirmati­on (8th grade and up), parents, and mentors. confirmati­on classes will begin on Sept. 26at 10:15a.m. in the social hall.

Sept. 13: the Property committee will meet at 7p.m. in the Welcome center.

Sept. 14: october niantic news newsletter articles are due into the office. at 9:30a.m., Quilt tying will be held in the social hall followed by the ladies lunch with meet up time at 11:30in the parking lot and lunch at Jenn & Jessie’s, oley at noon.

Sept. 15: handbell choir will rehearse beginning at 6:30p.m. followed by the Senior choir at 7:30 p.m.

Trinity Newsletter: is in a container in the parking lot along the church office walkway for those who are unable to come to church. to have it mailed, call the church office, 610-369-1281.

Scout Troop 511 Hoagies: 3rd tuesday of the month. Place orders on the 2nd tuesday of the month. Price increased to $5.50 each for ham, turkey, italian or cheese with lettuce, onion, tomato, sides hot peppers or sweet peppers, italian or mayo packets. to volunteer and to order as a new person, see Kitty isett. Pick up will be at the old store every month. thank you to those who have ordered hoagies in the past years.

WAWA Hoagie Tickets are Back!: available 1st Sunday of the month at the Scrip table. tickets are also available in the church office Monday through thursday, 9a.m. to 2 p.m. tickets are $4. this project benefits the Social Ministry.

PJ Project: donate gently used or new pajamas or sweatpants for children and adults, all sizes male and female. Place donation in box in the narthex.

In Ian’s Boots is accepting used sporting equipment: donate used cleats, balls, pads, guards, gently used shoes and boots to distribute to needy children and youth developmen­t programs both here and around the world.
