District 3 officials have announced that the Exeter at Daniel Boone football game originally scheduled for Friday night has been ruled a no contest.

The game has been removed from the District 3 power rankings. Exeter was asking for the game to be ruled a forfeit. If the game had been ruled a forfeit, the Eagles would have gotten credit for a win and the resultant power rankings points.

It was the second straight game Daniel Boone was unable to play due to COVID protocols. Last Friday, Daniel Boone was scheduled to play at Gov. Mifflin but had to cancel that game.

District 3 released the following statement detailing why the game was ruled a no contest:

“Following the PIAA guideline regarding either a No Contest or Forfeit for tonight’s (Friday’s) postponed football game between Daniel Boone and Exeter Township high schools and based on information from the Superintendent of the Daniel Boone School District that Daniel Boone has followed its Health and Safety Plan, PIAA District III has ruled the Daniel Boone vs. Exeter Township football game to be No Contest.”

Exeter (6-3) is now No. 8 in the power rankings and possibly could play undefeated Gov. Mifflin in the quarterfinals if the power rankings hold up. Daniel Boone (5-3) is No. 12 in the power rankings. The top 14 teams qualify.
