KU clinches spot in PSAC title game

The Golden Bears down Millersvil­le 30-7 and will play for the conference title on Nov. 13 at home

Ryan Meyers had a sack for a safety and Antuan Lloyd returned an intercepti­on for a touchdown as the Kutztown University football team trounced Millersvil­le 30-7 Saturday at Andre Reed Stadium and sealed a berth in the Pennsylvan­ia State Athletic Conference title game.

The Golden Bears (6-0, 8-1) clinched at least a share of their second straight PSAC East championsh­ip and can claim the outright title next week against West Chester. They will play California, IUP or Slippery Rock for the PSAC crown at 12:05 p.m. Nov. 13 at Kutztown.

Boyertown grad Jerome Kapp caught a 6-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter from Eric Nickel, who also ran for a TD that gave Kutztown a 16-0 halftime lead.

Lloyd returned Jack Stagaard’s intercepti­on 35 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter and had another pick. In the first quarter, Meyers sacked Stagaard in the end zone for a safety and a 2-0 lead.

Zaire Jones rushed for 117 yards for the Bears, and Jeremiah Nelson scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter.

Millersvil­le (1-5, 2-7), which had just 32 rushing yards, scored in the final three minutes to spoil the shutout.

FDU-FLORHAM 42, ALBRIGHT 35 » At Shirk Stadium, Adrian Reese caught a tiebreakin­g 22-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Caserta with 5:09 left, lifting the Devils (4-2, 5-3) over the Lions (1-6, 2-7) in a Middle Atlantic Conference game.

A few minutes earlier, Albright tied it 35-35 on Todd Shelley’s 2-yard pass to Carmine Azzari. The Lions had trailed twice by 13 points, 20-7 and 27-14.

Caserta completed 26-of36 passes for 271 yards and four touchdowns for FDUFlorham, Connor Perez had 10 catches for 102 yards and two scores and Reese had seven for 65 and two TDs. Alnazir Blackman rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns.

For Albright, Shelley went 17-for-31 passing for 219 yards and three scores, Azzari had nine receptions for 86 yards and two TDs, and Michael Starkey had four catches for 71 yards and a TD. Kareem McCoy ran for 85 yards and one score.

Lucas Roselli returned six kickoffs for 157 yards for the Lions.

At Turf Field, the Mustangs (4-3, 4-5) held the Golden Wolves (0-7, 0-9) ) to 132 total yards in a MAC game.

Ryan Sedgwick completed 15-of-23 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns for Stevenson, and Darian Littlejohn caught eight passes for 156 yards and two scores. Brandon Walker ran for 79 yards and two touchdowns.

Alvernia’s Kevin Washington was 12-for-18 passing for 96 yards and one second-quarter touchdown to Neeko Scurlock, who had six catches for 45 yards.

Jamel Fleming had 11 tackles and an intercepti­on for the Golden Wolves.
