Brandywine Heights coach Sarah Soffa said this has been a whirlwind week for her girls soccer team.

It’s been a historic one, as well.

The sixth-seeded Bullets defeated second-seeded Fairfield 1-0 on a goal by Olivia Moyer with 13:29 left in the first overtime Saturday in the District 3 Class 1A semifinals at Gettysburg Middle School.

The district final, Wednesday against either Harrisburg Christian or

Mount Calvary Christian at Hersheypark Stadium at 5:30 p.m., will be the first for the program. Brandywine also clinched a berth in the PIAA playoffs, which is believed to be the program’s second.

“It’s absolutely amazing,” Soffa said. “It’s awesome. The girls have worked hard for it.”

Moyer scored off an assist from Emily Savitz Saturday, when the Bullets (8-11) outshot the Green Knights 7-1.

“It was a great win for the team,” Soffa said. “We play such a hard schedule throughout the regular season that our record never looks phenomenal. To get to the postseason and play teams that are still really great teams but don’t have a bench that out-subs us, it’s great.”

Moyer had two goals and Savitz a goal and an assist in the Bullets’ 3-2 win at third-seeded Delone Catholic on Wednesday.

Then came another long bus ride, and another victory Saturday.

“It’s been an amazing experience for the players, who are fully invested in it,” Soffa said.
