Twin Valley advances; Wilson is eliminated

Emma Winther had two goals and two assists Saturday to lead Twin Valley to a 5-0 win over Archbishop Carroll in a PIAA Class 2A field hockey quarterfin­al game at Methacton.

Hall each had a goal and an assist to the help the District 3 champion Raiders (25-2) down the District 12 champion Patriots (11-7).

The victory advances Twin Valley to a semifinal game Tuesday at a site and time to be determined to face District 11 champion

Southern Lehigh, a 3-2 winner over Villa Maria.

Hadley Munn also scored a goal and Brooke Trent had an assist for Twin Valley, which won the PIAA Class 2A title in 2015.

Maddie Stevens made six saves for Twin Valley.

Central York 1, Wilson 0 (OT): At Neffsville, the District

3 No. 3 seed Panthers (21-5-1) scored in overtime to eliminate the Bulldogs (18-7).

It was Central York’s second one-goal victory over Wilson in eight days. The previous Saturday, Central York defeated Wilson 2-1 in the District 3 Class 3A third-place game.
