Tulpehocken’s season ended by Moravian Academy

PLAMYRA » Tulpehocken’s boys soccer season came to an end on Saturday.

The Trojans lost 1-0 to Moravian Academy in the PIAA Class 1A quarterfinals at Palmyra.

“It hurts seeing this season end, and it hurts seeing these seniors walk away,” Tulpehocken coach Trevor Brown said. “It’s painful — we all put our heart and souls into this.”

The only goal of the game was scored by George Husack in the 45th minute. The Lions protected their lead with strong defense.

The first half between the two sides was even. Both teams had a couple chances to score, but the majority of play resided in the midfield.

Moravian Academy gained a slight edge in possession in the second half. However, the Lions were unable to extend their lead against a stingy Tulpehocken defense.

“I thought we played absolutely fantastic,” Brown said. “I think we played as well as we possibly could play.”

The District 3 runner-up Trojans (17-6-2) were unable to find an equalizer in the second half. They had one corner kick in the game’s final minutes, but the attack was quickly shut down by the Moravian Academy defense.

“I can’t stress how much I love these guys,” Brown said. “This one hurts. It hurts a lot.”

The loss proved to be the final game for Tulpehocken seniors Brayden Evans, Micah Meyers, Aidan Miller, Josh Risser, Giovanni Rivera-Jusino,

Tyrese Sanchez and Matthew Wenger. Brown was quick to recognize their dedication to the team and the impact they made as Trojans.

“Phenomenal group of players, and even better young men,” he said. “Those boys are special, and I’m going to miss them.”
