Habitat for Humanity of Berks County is a local, nonprofit organization focused on providing moderate income families with a decent, safe and affordable place to live. When you contribute directly to Habitat Berks, and not the national office of Habitat for Humanity International, the money stays right here in your community.

Habitat Berks has a vision; To improve downtown Reading and the surrounding area. How? By creating homes and neighborhoods where residents take pride in where they live.

That is why Habitat Berks provides the opportunity for home ownership to deserving families. Many people think that Habitat gives away houses—that is not true. Every one of our homeowners has worked hard, both in labor and in the classroom, to earn their American dream. Habitat Berks offers a hand-up; not a hand-out.

By providing affordable housing and creating clean, safe neighborhoods, Habitat improves outcomes for children of all ages through decreased truancy, more graduates, increased extended education of all kinds and better overall GPAs.

Through financial contributions from people like you, Habitat Berks will embark on their most ambitious endeavor to date; The Buttonwood Gateway Project. Here, Habitat Berks will turn a blighted area of downtown Reading into a community of 25 row homes complete with sidewalks and a playground.

You Hold the Key to giving something more than a home—Hope.

You Hold the Key to empowering our community to build its own future.

You Hold the Key to making this happen.
