Founded in 1875, Reading Choral Society has a long and proud tradition of presenting vocal music, particularly symphonic masterworks, but also exploring and interpreting other music genres. Under the energetic and nurturing leadership of Dr. Graham Bier, our 12th music director, the Reading Choral Society continues to pursue its mission to Perform, Foster and Advance Choral Music in the Reading and Berks County Community with a balance between honoring our heritage and looking to the future. Reading Choral Society is back this year with in-person rehearsals, with singers socially distanced and wearing masks when indoors. Live Zoom rehearsals are also available for singers not able to attend in-person rehearsals. RCS is excited to be back to performing live for an audience. Their concerts will be held in a variety of venues which are larger and healthier venues for their concerts. Each year, Reading Choral Society offers scholarships to high school and college students that are pursuing studies in college focused on vocal/choral music. This past year we were able to offer a total of $6,000 to four high school and two college students for the current school year. Reading Choral Society hosts Gloria Singers, a workshop and concert for parochial students in Berks County. This event has been held for ten years and will continue when we are able to sing together once again. Our community singing workshops in the summer and winter have also continued, with each being held as in-person events. The Board, Staff and Members of the Reading Choral Society are grateful for the continued support from the community. Thank you for helping RCS continue its legacy of bringing excellent choral music for 146 years to the community!
