Gillen tests positive for COVID
A lawmaker who represents Berks County in the state House of Representatives has contracted the coronavirus.
Mark Gillen, 66, announced Monday afternoon that he has tested positive for COVID.
The Robeson Township Republican, who represents the 128th Legislative District, said he is experiencing mild symptoms and plans to work from home while he remains in quarantine.
“My exposure and positive test occurred while I traveled outside of Pennsylvania and should have no effect on my colleagues in the General Assembly, workers in the state Capitol or my district office staff,” he said in a statement.
Gillen’s statement did not indicate whether he is vaccinated against COVID.
While Gillen works from home, he said his office in Harrisburg and district office in Cumru Township will remain open to assist residents in his district.
