St. John’s serves free holiday meal to 235
Due to COVID, event was drive-thru take out
On Christmas Day, St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Boyertown provided 235 free holiday meals to the community.
Due to COVID, these meals were packed for take-out and handed out to community members waiting in their cars.
In order to accomplish this service, many volunteers and donations were required. Many thanks to local stores, Walmart, Giant and Weis for supplying bags for carry out. Gilbertsville company, Everything Printing, supplied boxes for large orders.
Members of St. John’s began at 6 a.m. to prepare the take-out meal. Pickup for these meals ran from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There was no registration needed. Meals were given out on a first come, first serve basis.
In the past, St. John’s Christmas meal was held indoors with fellowship and conversation alongside a free meal. It is our hope that in future years we will be able to return to
this original intent of joining neighbors together to share in the joy of Christmas.
St. John’s also offers a
free meal every Saturday evening from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. under the ministry titled, Come to the Table. For more information visit stjohnsboyertown.org.
This meal is open to the public
and no registration is required.
