St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Route 73 and Neiffer Road, Obelisk

Feb. 27: Pastor Christian McMullan will conduct 8 a.m. Holy Communion and the 10:15 a.m. worship services in the church. All are welcome. We require all church service attendees to wear a mask and practice social distancing of at least 6 feet. We will sing the hymns with masks on. Please do not attend services if you feel sick. Weekly services are also offered online via the St. Luke’s Obelisk YouTube Channel. It is our hope and prayer that everyone stays safe and well during these difficult times.

Feb. 27: Join us at our 9:30 a.m. worship. We welcome our interim pastor, Pastor Susan Folks, as she leads us in worship as we observe The Transfigur­ation of our Lord. Communion will be celebrated. The lector for the day is Connie Hukari. Sunday’s gospel lesson for the day is Luke 9:28-36, where Jesus is transfigur­ed on the mountain: (9)And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white.

Community Clothing Rack: open March 2 for donations from 1 to 4 p.m. and March 9, 16, and 23 for shoppers. Masks and physical distancing are required. Enter through far door — sanitize hands. Four clients will enter with a 20 minute shopping time limit. Exit through hall door — again — sanitizing hands. Restrooms will not be available for client use.

Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Barto

Feb. 27: worship on this Transfigur­ation of Our Lord Sunday with a worship service at 9 a.m. Rev. Matthew Finney will lead the congregati­on in a Holy Communion worship service and present the sermon. Our assistants for the 9 a.m. service will be: Sue Hoffman and our Greeter/Usher is Ginnie Wilkinson. Altar Guild this morning will be Shirley Deery and Sue Bendinsky and Counting Team is “D”. Prior to the worship service, Coffee & Conversati­on will be held at 8:30 in the Welcome Center as well as following worship. Adult Sunday School class will be held at 10:15 a.m. in the parlor. The Confirmati­on class will meet in social hall for class at 10:15 a.m.

March 1: Worship and Music will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Welcome Center.

March 2: Members of Christ Lutheran are invited to St. Paul’s Lutheran, Sassamansv­ille for an Ash Wednesday service of Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes at 7 p.m.

Senior Choir: will not be rehearsing this week.

March 3: Handbell Choir will rehearse at 6:30 p.m.

March 4: Pastor Matt will have office hours 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Feb. 28 and March 1: 6:30 p.m. Scouts.

March 2: Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. Join us at 6:15 p.m. for fastnaucht­s and fellowship prior to the 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday Worship Service with Communion. Please bring your favorite doughnuts to share. Senior Choir Practice to follow.

March 3: 6:30 p.m. TLC Stitchers.

Soup Suppers: Soup Supper will be held at 6 p.m. each Wednesday during lent prior to the 7 p.m. Worship Service beginning March 9.

First Communion Classes: will begin March 9 at 6:15 p.m. and will continue each Wednesday evening during Lent. Any young person 10 years of age or older who has not yet received their first communion is eligible to participat­e in these classes. See Pastor Zaiser if interested.

April 2: Roast Beef Take Out Event. The Planning Meeting will follow the Feb. 27 worship at 4 p.m.

WAWA Hoagie Coupons:

Available 1st Sunday of the month at the Scrip Table and in the church office Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $4. This project benefits the Social Ministry.

Scout Troop 511 Hoagies:

sales will be the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Place orders on the 2nd Tuesday. The price has increased to $5.50 each. There is ham, turkey, Italian or cheese with lettuce, onion, tomato, sides hot peppers or sweet peppers, Italian or mayo packets. To volunteer and to order as a new person, see Kitty Isett. Pick up will be at the old store every month.

PJ Project: donate gently used or new pajamas or sweatpants for children and adults, all sizes male/female. Place donation in the box in the Narthex.

In Ian’s Boots: donate used sporting equipment for needy children and youth developmen­t programs both here and around the world.

Puzzles: borrow an assortment of puzzles in the cabinet labeled “Puzzles” in the Parish Hall.
