Building a Better Boyertown — a nonprofit organization that seeks to preserve Boyertown’s artistic, historical, and agricultural heritage alike — presents its annual Coming Out of Hibernation event on Saturday, April 20.

“As the frost of winter gives way to the gentle warmth of spring, Building a Better Boyertown is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated annual Coming out of Hibernation vendor event! We’re bursting back into action to celebrate the awakening of nature and wake our sleepy mascot, Bearianne, from her winter slumber,” the nonprofit stated in the release.

Held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 20, the free community event features shopping at local businesses, food trucks, vendors, hands-on activities, a petting zoo and entertainment. The rain date is Sunday, April 21.

“Year after year, we take pride in welcoming the families of our community and loyal visitors on the third Saturday of April to enjoy a day funfilled day on Philadelphia Avenue,” the BaBB states in the release. “Whether you’re a seasoned shopper or simply seeking a day of leisurely exploration, Coming Out of Hibernation offers something for everyone. From artisan crafters to loyal businesses, delicious food trucks to local restaurants, there’s no shortage of treasures waiting to be uncovered.”

As a community-focused event, BaBB is proud to support local businesses and artisans, providing them with a platform to showcase their talents and connect with customers who share a passion for quality, creativity, and sustainability.

“By shopping small and supporting independent entrepreneurs, you’re not just making a purchase — you’re investing in the continued vitality of our community,” states BaBB.

There will be no shortage of entertainment throughout the day as well. The Boyertown Alumni Band and a variety of independent artists are scheduled to keep music on the streets all day long.

“Along with musical entertainment we also have Fletcher the miniature highlander cow and some of his barn friends from Fluffy EnRoute Farm who are very excited to meet everyone,” states BaBB.

The event will also offer an array of hands-on activities hosted by local business owners.

The highlight of the event will be waking up BaBB’s mascot Bearianne from her long winter’s nap. At 11:30 a.m., attendees are asked to help wake up Bearianne from her hibernation.

BaBB thanks the Longacre Company in Bally for being the Brightest of the Bunch event sponsor.

Coming out of Hibernation is free to attend, though some activities, such as the petting zoo, may incur a small fee. For more information, including a list of participating vendors and entertainment, visit www.buildingabetterboyertown.org/hibernation.
