Hilda Joyce Bullock Lyle, 76, of Marietta, died Saturday, June 21, 2014. Born April 30, 1938 in Polk County, Joyce was raised in Rockmart by her parents Roy William Bullock and Ida Ethel (Manor) Bullock, both from Polk County.
Mrs. Lyle retired for the Cobb County School System as a bus driver for 30 years and also worked in various school lunchrooms between bus runs. She was of the Baptist faith and had been a member of Piedmont, Calvary and Eastside Baptist Churches.
From 1965 to 2002, Joyce volunteered as a counselor and bus driver for church youth groups and senior citizens. She also taught Sunday School, and helped organize and direct functions for the Cobb Christian Singles Ministry and the Senior Citizen Ministry in Cobb County.
In 1996 she volunteered her time and many talents driving athletes and other volunteers for the Atlanta Olympic Games.
Mrs. Lyle is preceded in death by husband, Hoyt Lamar Lyle, and is survived by son, Mark Anthony Lyle and wife Stephanie of Marietta; daughter Lamonda Lyle Harris and husband Dean of Marietta; two wonderful grandchildren Matthew and Jonathan Harris; brother Terry R. Bullock and wife Clara and their children and grandchildren.
A memorial visitation was held on Wednesday evening, June 25 at Marietta Funeral Home, located at 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta.
