Mrs. Ruby Lee Harden Maxwell, age 79 of Rockmart, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.

Mrs. Maxwell was born on June 7, 1935 in Rockingham, North Carolina, daughter of late Charlie Gilmore Harden and the late Annie Louise Cherry Harden. She retired from Tip Top Poultry, Inc. and was a member of Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church in Taylorsvil­le.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James Wyna Maxwell, on Aug. 28, 1991. Mrs. Maxwell had a great love for her church, gardening and flowers. Her children and grandchild­ren were her life. She was known for her love for animals, often feeding stray cats.

She was survived by a son Gregory Scott (Greg) Maxwell, of Rockmart; daughters, Emily Jane Atkins of Rockmart and Louise Maxwell Hurst of Rockmart: three grandchild­ren, Timothy Keith Atkins, Jr., Shelby Grace Combs, and Cameron James Combs.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maxwell were held on, Saturday, July 26 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Garret and Rev. Bobby McDowell officiatin­g. Interment services followed in the family lot of the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Cameron Combs, Rufus Cantrell, Hansell (Happy) Ferguson, Taylor Sparks, Don Hurst and Max Barber.

Honorary escorts were members of the Rainbow Circle Sunday School Class of Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church.
