Mrs. Ruby Lee Har­den Maxwell, age 79 of Rock­mart, passed away on Wed­nes­day, July 23, 2014.

Mrs. Maxwell was born on June 7, 1935 in Rock­ing­ham, North Carolina, daugh­ter of late Char­lie Gil­more Har­den and the late Annie Louise Cherry Har­den. She re­tired from Tip Top Poul­try, Inc. and was a mem­ber of Bethel Cross­roads Bap­tist Church in Tay­lorsville.

She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Mr. James Wyna Maxwell, on Aug. 28, 1991. Mrs. Maxwell had a great love for her church, gar­den­ing and flow­ers. Her chil­dren and grand­chil­dren were her life. She was known for her love for an­i­mals, of­ten feed­ing stray cats.

She was sur­vived by a son Gre­gory Scott (Greg) Maxwell, of Rock­mart; daugh­ters, Emily Jane Atkins of Rock­mart and Louise Maxwell Hurst of Rock­mart: three grand­chil­dren, Ti­mothy Keith Atkins, Jr., Shelby Grace Combs, and Cameron James Combs.

Funeral ser­vices for Mrs. Maxwell were held on, Satur­day, July 26 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Free­man Har­ris Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Gar­ret and Rev. Bobby McDow­ell of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment ser­vices fol­lowed in the fam­ily lot of the New Prospect Bap­tist Church Cemetery.

The fol­low­ing gen­tle­men served as pall­bear­ers: Cameron Combs, Ru­fus Cantrell, Hansell (Happy) Fer­gu­son, Tay­lor Sparks, Don Hurst and Max Bar­ber.

Honorary es­corts were mem­bers of the Rain­bow Cir­cle Sun­day School Class of Bethel Cross­roads Bap­tist Church.
