Nell Bobo speaks during meeting of Golden Age group at local church
The Golden Age of Rockmart First Baptist Church met recently with 95 members present.
Visitors were Dan and Marie Forsyth, Sal Forsyth and Bud East.
The speaker was Nell Bobo of Paulding County. She is the wife of Ralph Bobo, a retired minister. She has written a number of books, which she had on display.
Veterans were honored and thanked for their military service.
Dan Casey led a prayer for the sick that are homebound, in assisted living and convalescent homes. A special prayer was said for Johnnie Lou Paschal, Jean Willis and Margie Wigley.
Sympathy was extended to Vanden Underwood in the loss of his dad and Sara Moates for the loss of her brother Coy Deems.
Buddy and Reba Tanner decorated the tables with an autumn theme featuring colorful leaves and centered with an arrangement of wheat from the Casey farm.
Annie Ruth Duke led the singing celebrating birthdays of Glenda Head, Margaret Hilley, Martha Holder, Anne Dean, Christine McDowell, Rae Collins, Helen Perdue, Becky Racine, Rachel Roper, Evelyn Simons, Glenda Taylor, Anne Wright, Edna Miller and Margie Wigley.
Celebrating their fifth anniversary was Bill and Jean Weaver.
Door prizes were given to Emma Spinks, Barbara Spinks, Barbara Stkinger, Pat Troy, Yevonne Wheeler, Martha Holder, Faye Langford and Brenda Johnson.
Justus Four will provide entertainment during the group’s next meeting on Thursday, Nov. 20.
