Queen Mother Patricia Smith started the Bold and Beautiful Red Hatters in June 2002. There were 15 charter members at the first meeting at Petro’s Pizza Restaurant in Cedartown. Today, there are 35 charter members.

Initially, the group met for a meal and fellowship. Later, they decided to find ways to give back to the community. They visited nursing homes to entertain residents. This was followed by shows at a building on Third Street.

In 2004, Smith met with Gary Redding to discuss a show at the city auditorium. Approval was given and the first one drew people from North Carolina, Huntsville, Alabama and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Since that time, the group has held fundraisers for Cabin Fever in Cave Spring, the Blind Association in Summerville, and sponsor Walk a Mile in Her Shoes each October for battered women awareness (shelter) in Cedartown.
