Live Oak Church to host free Thanksgiving meal
Live Oak Baptist Church, 150 Live Oak Road, Aragon, is hosting a free Thanksgiving meal from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26.
The church has set a goal to feed 200 or more people in the community.
The menu consists of turkey and dressing, cranberry sauce, green beans, corn, rolls, dessert, sweet tea and lemonade. It will be served in the church fellowship hall (turn right at Burton’s Store off Highway 101).
Everyone will be welcome to share food and fellowship. Warm clothing and blankets will be available to those in need.
Donations can be dropped off at Clean Spot (beside Advance Rehab in Triangle Square Shopping Center, Rockmart) or at the church.
Homebound individuals and those in need without transportation can have a plate delivered to them. Those without a way to the church are asked to get their name on the church list.
Melanie Chambers, Young Adult Sunday School class, initially suggested the idea for the free meal. She said she was inspired to do something for those in need, lonely and without family to share the holiday.
Without hesitation, the church joined a team effort to contact friends and organizations and activated plans for the “Share the Love” event.
