Donors give blood during ARC Community Drive
Brittany Morris gives blood during the American Red Cross Community Drive when it is held in Rockmart.
This is a habit developed when she attended high school and had a desire to give back to the community.
“I don’t mind sharing what I have,” she said. “It could be a member of my family that needs it.”
Laney Massey enjoyed a family moment as she sat between her mother Virginia Massey and grandmother Vicky Warr.
“I don’t always give,” Warr said. “My daughter is a regular donor. It is my hope that Laney will give when she is older.”
Masonic Lodge No. 97 hosted the drive last Tuesday in the Nathan Dean Community Center. Free barbecue was served to donors.
Volunteers included Martha McDurmon, Darlene Smith, Shirley Ingle, Evelyn Simmons, Peggy Watts and Harold McDurmond and Dan Smith, Lodge No. 97.
According to volunteers, the drive was very successful with more people making appointments so they would not have wait.

Blood donations often decline during the holidays when donors are busy with travel and family gatherings. However, the need for blood remains.
