What’s new on Main Street

By

- TRICIA CAMBRON

The trees lining Main Street were approaching full leaf last week when the SJ took a walk down Main Street to see what’s new in the shops downtown.

This week’s find: Custom made Nick Chubb t-shirts.

When Nick Chubb’s mother came into Southern Sass a while back to get a t-shirt made to celebrate her son and University of Gerogia running back, storeowner Lynn Adams was beside herself. After making several customized shirts for the Chubb family, she created a shirt for fans of the hometown hero to sell in her store; the gray cotton shirt has “Chubb Town” on the back and the number 27 on the front pocket.

In addition to turning out what is sure to be the must-have fashion for fall, she noticed that motorcycle clubs often used the parking lot across from her store to meet before the club took off on a Sunday drive. She has since started carrying tshirts and tank tops for women riders. One tank top proclaims, “Ain’t nothing like a southern girl,” and a black longsleeve t-shirt is embossed with the Harley Davidson logo and a delicate flower design running down the sleeves.

Adams’ inventory, chosen by herself and her daughters, Heather Hix, and Leeann Hilburn, includes baby doll dresses, delicate blouses in spring pastels, pants and shirts in Aztec prints, and a selection of jewelry, purses and scarves. Her favorite feedback from customers? “I’m so glad you’re here so I don’t have to go to Rome.”

Southern Sass is located at 232 Main St. For more information, call (678) 861-5002.

‘What’s New on Main Street’ is a weekly column featuring a “find of the week” at stores in downtown Cedartown and Rockmart.
