Ado­nis Bur­rus named Mayor for a Day for Aragon Kids’ Day From Staff Re­ports

An East­side El­e­men­tary school fifth grader about to head off to Rock­mart Mid­dle School in the fall af­ter a great aca­demic year was named Mayor for a Day in Aragon over the week­end.

Ado­nis Bur­rus, grand­daugh­ter of Aragon’s Mayor Pro Tem Curtis Bur­rus, was rec­og­nized as the 24th Mayor for a Day as part of the Aragon Kids’ Day pro­gram, hosted by the Davitte Lodge.

Ado­nis, a young lady of few words, said she was ex­cited by the award and happy to have the recog­ni­tion. Her grand­fa­ther en­joyed brag­ging on her dur­ing the pre­sen­ta­tion, men­tion­ing that Ado­nis fin­ished the school year with all A’s and at the top of her class head­ing into mid­dle school.

Aragon Mayor Ken Suf­fridge said he was thank­ful for the Lodge’s hard work.

“This event has been a big at­trac­tion for the area chil­dren, and their fam­i­lies for many years, and I want to salute all the par­tic­i­pants from the Lodge for their ef­forts. We look for­ward to the 25th An­niver­sary of the event next year. I know a lot of fish were caught, and the chil­dren also en­joyed the many prizes.”
