Adonis Burrus named Mayor for a Day for Aragon Kids’ Day From Staff Reports
An Eastside Elementary school fifth grader about to head off to Rockmart Middle School in the fall after a great academic year was named Mayor for a Day in Aragon over the weekend.
Adonis Burrus, granddaughter of Aragon’s Mayor Pro Tem Curtis Burrus, was recognized as the 24th Mayor for a Day as part of the Aragon Kids’ Day program, hosted by the Davitte Lodge.
Adonis, a young lady of few words, said she was excited by the award and happy to have the recognition. Her grandfather enjoyed bragging on her during the presentation, mentioning that Adonis finished the school year with all A’s and at the top of her class heading into middle school.
Aragon Mayor Ken Suffridge said he was thankful for the Lodge’s hard work.
“This event has been a big attraction for the area children, and their families for many years, and I want to salute all the participants from the Lodge for their efforts. We look forward to the 25th Anniversary of the event next year. I know a lot of fish were caught, and the children also enjoyed the many prizes.”
