Polk County and Cedartown will both be hosting meetings in July to discuss the results of a feasibility study into whether a trail between downtown Cave Spring and downtown Cedartown will be built to connect Floyd County to the Silver Comet Trail.

Alta Planning and Design will be in Cedartown to present results of their study on whether the trail can be built to Cedartown City Commissioners in a meeting on July 6 at 6 p.m. in the commission meeting room at Cedartown City Hall.

The design firm will then present findings to the Polk County Commission during their work session on Monday, July 13 at 5:15 p.m.

The connection would bring users of the trail from the Depot on Main Street through the heart of Cedartown, and then onward to Cave Spring. Commission chair Dale Tuck said the benefits of the additional trail would serve to increase use and interest in the trail system.

“People in Rome and Floyd County and even in Chattanooga are paying close attention to the results of the study,” she said. “They are very excited about the possibility of the trail continuing north. This connection will be a very good thing for the city.”
