Summer of Art in Rockmart features camps
RCAC Visual Arts Committee is calling all youth to participate in “S.O.A.R. – Summer of Art in Rockmart!”
Rockmart Cultural Arts Center, 316 N. Piedmont Ave., Bldg. 300, will have space for artists (ages 0 – 18) for camps and art exhibits exclusively for this age group.
A Youth Art Exhibit is open to all artists up to age 18, No fee or prior approval is required. All types of art will be accepted. Wall art needs to be framed or matted for easy hanging.
Participants are to deliver art from 4 to 6 p.m. July 18 and 1 to 3 p.m. July 19. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays July 25 through August 28. An artists’ reception is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. July 25.
Spaces are limited for summer camps. To register for any camp, please email [email protected] with the name of the camp of your choice listed in the subject line.
Please include parent name, child name, child date of birth and grade, mailing and email addresses, and phone numbers. A registration form with instructions will be emailed to you.
Art camp for children, ages 3 to 5 years, is available from June 15 to 19. Parent or guardian must accompany children. Tuition is $65 per child (no charge for parent or guardian). Times are from 9 to 10:30 a.m. for classes in clay, dance, music and painting projects.
Teen art camp is scheduled for ages 12 to 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. June 15 to 19. Tuition is $85 per camper. Youth can enjoy pottery, mosaic, drama, and silk-screen projects. Campers will be in two groups according to age. There will also be a field trip to Anniston Natural History Museum and a reception from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 19.
Students’ works will be part of the Annual Youth Art Exhibition on Saturday, July 25, 2015.
Youth art camp will be held for ages 6 to 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 20-24. Classes will include pottery, dance, mosaic, and painting projects. Campers will be in two groups according to age. A field trip to Anniston Natural History Museum is planned. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on day of field trip. Campers will also help install Youth Exhibit throughout week.
A reception will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 for the annual Youth Art Exhibition (all youth artists are invited to participate in this exhibit).
Theatre camp for kindergarten through 6th grade will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 13 to 17. The activities will continue for five days and participants will receive a script to keep, and a show t-shirt. A performance is slated at 6:30 p.m. July 17.

Please include your name, address, phone number, and name of potential student with date of birth listed. Your information will be forwarded to the art instructor to contact you regarding your particular art interest.
RCAC photography instructor Carla Redding of C. Redding Photography hosts a free new group meet called “Photography Stop-In” at Rockmart Cultural Arts Center Art Gallery, 316 N. Piedmont Ave., Bldg. 300, Rockmart, from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursdays.
Drop by and discuss photography in general, or get more information about the photography related classes offered at RCAC (Photo Convo One and Adobe Lightroom 5). The discussions will be open topic, but all participants will be able to share photography information. Want to talk about your equipment? Be sure to bring it with you to the group meet.
