Sum­mer of Art in Rockmart fea­tures camps

RCAC Vis­ual Arts Com­mit­tee is call­ing all youth to par­tic­i­pate in “S.O.A.R. – Sum­mer of Art in Rockmart!”

Rockmart Cul­tural Arts Cen­ter, 316 N. Pied­mont Ave., Bldg. 300, will have space for artists (ages 0 – 18) for camps and art ex­hibits ex­clu­sively for this age group.

A Youth Art Ex­hibit is open to all artists up to age 18, No fee or prior ap­proval is re­quired. All types of art will be ac­cepted. Wall art needs to be framed or mat­ted for easy hang­ing.

Par­tic­i­pants are to de­liver art from 4 to 6 p.m. July 18 and 1 to 3 p.m. July 19. The ex­hibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fri­days and Satur­days July 25 through Au­gust 28. An artists’ re­cep­tion is sched­uled from 1 to 3 p.m. July 25.

Sum­mer camps

Spa­ces are lim­ited for sum­mer camps. To register for any camp, please email [email protected] with the name of the camp of your choice listed in the sub­ject line.

Please in­clude par­ent name, child name, child date of birth and grade, mail­ing and email ad­dresses, and phone num­bers. A reg­is­tra­tion form with in­struc­tions will be emailed to you.

Art camp for chil­dren, ages 3 to 5 years, is avail­able from June 15 to 19. Par­ent or guardian must ac­com­pany chil­dren. Tu­ition is $65 per child (no charge for par­ent or guardian). Times are from 9 to 10:30 a.m. for classes in clay, dance, mu­sic and paint­ing projects.

Teen art camp is sched­uled for ages 12 to 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. June 15 to 19. Tu­ition is $85 per camper. Youth can en­joy pot­tery, mo­saic, drama, and silk-screen projects. Campers will be in two groups ac­cord­ing to age. There will also be a field trip to An­nis­ton Nat­u­ral History Mu­seum and a re­cep­tion from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Fri­day, June 19.

Stu­dents’ works will be part of the An­nual Youth Art Ex­hi­bi­tion on Satur­day, July 25, 2015.

Youth art camp will be held for ages 6 to 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 20-24. Classes will in­clude pot­tery, dance, mo­saic, and paint­ing projects. Campers will be in two groups ac­cord­ing to age. A field trip to An­nis­ton Nat­u­ral History Mu­seum is planned. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on day of field trip. Campers will also help in­stall Youth Ex­hibit through­out week.

A re­cep­tion will be held on Satur­day, July 25, 2015 for the an­nual Youth Art Ex­hi­bi­tion (all youth artists are in­vited to par­tic­i­pate in this ex­hibit).

Theatre camp for kinder­garten through 6th grade will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 13 to 17. The ac­tiv­i­ties will con­tinue for five days and par­tic­i­pants will re­ceive a script to keep, and a show t-shirt. A per­for­mance is slated at 6:30 p.m. July 17.

For a list of classes’of­fered or ad­di­tional in­for­ma­tion on a class, please email [email protected] rockmart- ga. gov with the name of the class which in­ter­ests you listed in the “sub­ject” line. Please in­clude your name, ad­dress, phone num­ber, and name of po­ten­tial stu­dent with date of birth listed. Your in­for­ma­tion will be for­warded to the art in­struc­tor to con­tact you re­gard­ing your par­tic­u­lar art in­ter­est.

RCAC pho­tog­ra­phy in­struc­tor Carla Red­ding of C. Red­ding Pho­tog­ra­phy hosts a free new group meet called “Pho­tog­ra­phy Stop-In” at Rockmart Cul­tural Arts Cen­ter Art Gallery, 316 N. Pied­mont Ave., Bldg. 300, Rockmart, from 6 to 7 p.m. Thurs­days.

Drop by and dis­cuss pho­tog­ra­phy in gen­eral, or get more in­for­ma­tion about the pho­tog­ra­phy re­lated classes of­fered at RCAC (Photo Convo One and Adobe Light­room 5). The dis­cus­sions will be open topic, but all par­tic­i­pants will be able to share pho­tog­ra­phy in­for­ma­tion. Want to talk about your equip­ment? Be sure to bring it with you to the group meet.

New ex­hibit

Visit the art ex­hibit, “Feng Shui,” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fri­days and Satur­days at the Art Gallery – Rockmart Cul­tural Arts Cen­ter, 316 N. Pied­mont Ave., Bldg. 300, in Rockmart.
