- From Staff Reports

A Cobb County man who was wanted as a suspect in a murder investigation the focus of a search conducted by by Polk County authorities last week has been jailed after being found not far from where police searched previously.

Polk County sheriff Johnny Moats reported at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, that Juan Dominguez, 29, who was on the run during a search last week by police, is being booked

into the Polk County Jail.

He was apprehended this morning in a combined operation headed up by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Cedartown Police with assistance by U.S. Marshals, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, state parole officers and Cedartown Police’s Sgt. John Zucker and his K-9 unit.

“We got him to request some ICE agents come in today,” Moats said. “We weren’t 100 percent sure that he was still here, but we thought he was, so we got ICE agents out to help us. The first place that we searched we found him at this morning.”

The combined force found Dominguez inside the car behind a house at 51 Knight Road, in the same area where Polk County authorities sought him last week.

He was being held on a homicide warrant from the Sandy Springs Police Department in the suspected murder of his 31-year-old roommate on June 22.

A man fitting Dominguez’s description was spotted about noon by Cedartown Police near Judkin Mill Road, though he disappeared later in the day on June 22, authorities said.

Police searched southwest Polk County near the Cedartown city limits during the day on June 22, but were unable to locate him.

Moats said ICE agents were crucial in providing bilingual support to the search and capture of Dominguez last week.

“I don’t think we would have found him so easily without their help,” he said.
