For­mer UND slug­ger Camp­bell signs with Braves or­ga­ni­za­tion

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — For­mer Univer­sity of North Dakota slug­ger and re­cent Col­lege Home Run Derby cham­pion Jeff Camp­bell has signed with the At­lanta Braves or­ga­ni­za­tion.

Camp­bell will re­port to Danville, Vir­ginia, on Fri­day for his rookie ball as­sign­ment with the Danville Braves.

Camp­bell hit a record 20 home runs in the open­ing round of the TD Amer­i­trade Col­lege Home Run Derby last week in Omaha, Ne­braska, on his way to win­ning the ti­tle.

Camp­bell led UND in home runs in each of his four sea­sons. The Clear­wa­ter, Florida, na­tive slugged 32 homers in his col­lege ca­reer, third most in school history. He was a first-team All-WAC se­lec­tion his se­nior year.
