Former UND slugger Campbell signs with Braves organization
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Former University of North Dakota slugger and recent College Home Run Derby champion Jeff Campbell has signed with the Atlanta Braves organization.
Campbell will report to Danville, Virginia, on Friday for his rookie ball assignment with the Danville Braves.
Campbell hit a record 20 home runs in the opening round of the TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby last week in Omaha, Nebraska, on his way to winning the title.
Campbell led UND in home runs in each of his four seasons. The Clearwater, Florida, native slugged 32 homers in his college career, third most in school history. He was a first-team All-WAC selection his senior year.
