Cedartown falls in first home game
What Cedartown Bulldog fans hoped would be the first win of the season turned into a bruiser as the boys in Red and Black hosted the Bruins for a 42-13 loss Friday at Memorial Stadium.
The Bulldogs took an early lead in the game, but were dominated in the second half as Northwest Whitfield got the win over 0-2 Cedartown, who looked sharp despite what the record books reflect.
In fact, the Bulldogs dominated the first quarter with a balance of runs and passes.
Cedartown got on the board early in the second quarter when Trayvon Wofford hit Joseph Gibbons with a

Northwest Whitfield answered with a scoring drive of their own, aided with three penalties on the Bulldogs.
The drive was capped off when the Bruins QB Luke Shiflett found his receiver in the center of the end zone.
At that point the Bulldogs began to unravel. Cedartown allowed the Bruins to score two more touchdowns in the final minutes of the second quarter bringing the Bruins score to 22 and the Bulldogs 6.
Head Coach Scott Hendrix was disturbed with the inconsistency of play in the game.
“Turnovers, penalties and negative yardage plays are things that destroy momentum. I know our players are working very hard but we, coaches and players, must do a better job,” Hendrix said.
He went on to say that when the team does not have self-inflicted problems, “we look really good but when errors occur we look bad.”
Hendrix said, “We must become more consistent in every phase of the game and play solid all four quarters.”
The Cedartown Bulldogs will host the Bowdon Red Devils on Friday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in hopes of gaining their first win of the season.
