Cedartown’s First Baptist offers opportunity for ‘revival’

- By TRICIA CAMBRON Assistant Editor

The First Baptist Church in Cedartown will host a series of Sunday night services featuring visiting pastors from around Polk County beginning at 6 p.m., Sept. 27, at the church on the corner of College and Wissahickon streets.

Pastor Steve Fetkenhour of the New Hope Fellowship Church will be the featured speaker at the first meeting on Sept. 27, with John Ragland of Grace Presbyterian Church in Cedartown opening the service with prayers and scripture.

“We know that a lot of the churches and Christian people in the community are praying for revival, “said First Baptist Pastor Dr. David Taylor. “We want to bring together those who are interested in doing this collectively.”

Taylor, who has beenat First Baptist in Cedartown for 14 years and was at the Rockmart F irs t Baptist Church for 14 years before that, said the thought behind the services are really based on the sc r i pt ure found at 2 Chronicles 7:14:

“...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

The services are open to anyone, Taylor said, adding that no one needs an i nvitation to attend regardless of which church they re g ul ar l y attend.

Anyone interested in parti- cipating in the collective choir that will be formed for the services should meet in the sanctuary of First Baptist at 5 p.m. each week for choir practice.

The services begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 27 and continue each Sunday through Oct.18.

The services will open with prayers and scripture by a visiting pastor, followed by a sermon by the pastors listed in the sidebar above.
