Cedartown Homecoming this Friday
Homecoming festivities are underway this week within the halls of Cedartown High School, but the student body will get to join the rest of the community in celebrations getting out for a half day off and enjoying the annual parade down Main Street a bit earlier this year.
Local residents should start lining downtown streets early in the afternoon Friday in order to see the homecoming court as this year’s parade has been moved up to 2 p.m. since students will be out of school.
On parade this year will be a full homecoming court of 19 young ladies from seniors to freshmen. Starting with the senior homecoming court, they include: Bren Lewis, Gabbie Ramos, Areli Cervantes, Kaily Matthews, Kiersten Pace and Callie McDonald.
Juniors include: Victoria Frazier, Payton McElwee, Skylar Rogers and Ava Tillmann.
The sophomore class nominated Hannah Marchbanks., Yovanka Pineda, Katrina Harris, and Chloe Lee, and the freshman class sent Ariana Escutia, Evie Blackmon, Emily Matthews, Kendall Lee and Kennedy Barnet to the court this year.
Those interested in participating in the homecoming festivities still have a little time left, but should contact Cedartown High’s Sara Underwood at 770-7480490.
Following parade festivities, the Bulldogs will take on Fannin County, and this year’s Homecoming queen will be announced during halftime of the game at Memorial Stadium at CHS.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Rockmart High School will have their homecoming on Oct. 16 when the Yellow Jackets take on Callaway in a Region 5-AAA matchup.
Those interested in taking part in the RHS parade should contact James Hawkins at 770684-5432.
The RHS court will be presented in the Oct. 14 edition of the Standard Journal.
