New books avail­able at the li­brary

The Standard Journal - - LIFESTYLE - Leonard and Kay Brog­don of Cedartown dis­played a va­ri­ety of prod­ucts, which they brought to the mar­ket Thurs­day. Shop­pers were in­ter­ested in their dis­play of mus­cadines, toma­toes and chrysan­the­mums.

Fall greens are ar­riv­ing and the Mums are bloom­ing at the Rockmart Farm­ers Mar­ket from 2 to 6 p.m. Thurs­days through Oc­to­ber 29.

Ten­der baby mus­tard greens and turnip salad are be­ing har­vested along with the first of the fall arugula, bok choy, kale, turnip greens, and let­tuces.

Val­ley Flow­ers is bring­ing their beau­ti­ful mum’s to mar­ket along with mus­cadines and scup­per­nongs. Wax beans and sev­eral va­ri­eties of green beans are mak­ing their fall ap­pear­ance along with the sec­ond crops of cu­cum­bers and radishes.

Red and green toma­toes along with the fi­nal har­vests of okra are avail­able and wide va­ri­eties of pep­pers are abun­dant. Egg­plant, both Asian and Ital­ian, are plen­ti­ful and field peas are abun­dant. Sev­eral va­ri­eties of ap­ples in­clud­ing the won­der­ful Hon­ey­crisp ap­ple are avail­able at mar­ket and will con­tinue to in­crease over the next few weeks.

Along with all the veg­gies baked good, canned goods, pork and chicken, and honey can be found at mar­ket. In sea­son recipes can be found at the man­ager’s booth or on the web­site Rock­martFarm­er­sMar­ket.com.
