RCAC offers art classes; Anderson teaches guitar

Kris Anderson is an accomplish­ed guitar instructor and offers classes at the Rockmart Cultural Arts Department.

A graduate of the Atlanta Institute of Music, Anderson has proficienc­y in a variety of different styles; including jazz, country, rock classical, and punk.

An active performer, session guitar player, and songwriter, he has toured internatio­nally both performing and hosting clinics in Italy, Poland, Great Britain, Germany, France and several other European countries. Among the many accolades and achievemen­ts he has gained, Anderson has had the opportunit­y to work with Grammy award winning artist such as Bryan White with his classic country group Kris Anderson and The Would Be Thieves and Doyle Dykes, and Thom Bresh with his Dixie Jazz group The VaudeVilla­ins. He has also been featured on several esteemed local and national radio programs as well as television.

Not only does Anderson maintain an active membership with the Nashville Songwriter­s associatio­n, but he is also an establishe­d member of the Atlanta Guitar Guild and an endorsed artist by Fred Kelly Picks, Cleartone Strings and Eastman Guitars. He is the founder of the Rockmart Community Centers musical program and teaches all levels of guitar playing from beginner to advanced students.

In his classes, he uses the Essential Elements book series currently used in middle schools and high schools.

Holiday Gift Shop Have you been looking for a chance to sell handmade art and other unique craft items for the holidays? Here is your chance:

Rockmart Cultural Arts Center is seeking Visual Artists (18 years or older) for the annual Holiday Gift Shop. Any medium No entrance fee!* Handcrafte­d jewelry, pottery, turned or carved wood, gourds, paintings, walking sticks, note cards, photograph­y, mixed media, sculptures, drawings, decorative art or other pieces of art for sale. The artist must create the art.

* The gallery collects a fee of 20% on all sales. Artists will be issued checks after the show has closed. Important Dates October 2: Email photos of items you wish to sell with a descriptio­n and price list to rcac@ rockmart-ga.gov. List “HGS” in the subject line of the email followed by your name.
