Wood sen­tenced to 13 years in Rome rob­bery

A Rome man was sen­tenced to 13 years in prison for the Oc­to­ber 2014 rob­bery of the One Stop Shop on Maple Av­enue where three peo­ple were shot in an ex­change of gun­fire.

Micah An­thony Wood, 209 Smith St., pleaded guilty to armed rob­bery, ag­gra­vated as­sault and pos­ses­sion of a weapon dur­ing the com­mis­sion of a crime Thurs­day in Floyd County Su­pe­rior Court.

Judge Tami Col­ston sen­tenced Wood to prison as well as 17 years on pro­ba­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, Wood and another man en­tered the store at 2107A Maple Ave. at around 2 a.m. and de­manded money from the clerk.

Woods struck the clerk and fired a shot at him while the other sus­pect held up cus­tomers in the back of the store at game ma­chines.
