Wood sentenced to 13 years in Rome robbery
A Rome man was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the October 2014 robbery of the One Stop Shop on Maple Avenue where three people were shot in an exchange of gunfire.
Micah Anthony Wood, 209 Smith St., pleaded guilty to armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime Thursday in Floyd County Superior Court.
Judge Tami Colston sentenced Wood to prison as well as 17 years on probation.
According to police, Wood and another man entered the store at 2107A Maple Ave. at around 2 a.m. and demanded money from the clerk.
Woods struck the clerk and fired a shot at him while the other suspect held up customers in the back of the store at game machines.
