Windows 10

Windows 10 is free to Windows 7 and 8 users until July 29, 2016; Windows Pro version users will receive the Pro version, Windows 7 or 8 Home will receive Windows 10 Home. Windows 10 Home users can upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for $99.

Fewer Forced Updates In Pro Edition

Windows 10 Pro lets you choose how and when to install Windows Updates. Users are able to delay Windows Updates, but security fixes are still automatic. One of the best features is called BitLocker. It is an option to encrypt hard drives and USB drives.

Remote Desktop Option

The Pro version also includes Remote Desktop which allows a Windows 10 Pro computer to control other Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 10 Pro-edition-or-higher computers over the Internet.

Client Hyper-V

Client Hyper-V lets you run other operating systems on your Windows 10 Pro PC from within the desktop environment. This and Remote Desktop can be accomplished with third-party applications instead and some of these are freeware.

Microsoft Downloads Windows 10 Without Asking

Microsoft has confirmed it has downloaded Windows 10 to some Windows 7 and 8.1 computers without permission.

This is rather inconsiderate since it is such a huge file. Many users are still on slow connections (such as MiFi) or with data use limits.

AT&T Unlimited throttling policy

AT&T has changed how the company throttles the connections of customers. This limit is configured to run within billing periods, so you’ll be able to use 22GB of data in a month before AT&T limits your connection.

An organized crime gang in Mexico has been bribing ATM technicians to install Bluetooth skimming components that allow thieves to steal card and PIN data wirelessly. One ATM company operating in the Cancun area whose machines contain these skimming devices is called Intacash. This company’s ATMs are located throughout downtown Cancun and Playa Del Carmen.

Yahoo deals with massive malvertising attack

According to Jerome Segura, a senior security researcher at Malwarebytes Labs, the malware had been active on Yahoo’s advertising network since last Tuesday. People who visited these websites were exposed to the infected ads.

If you have recently visited one of these Yahoo websites, you should scan your system with a reputable anti-spyware tool such as Malwarebytes or Super Antispyware (We are distributors for the registered versions of these).
