Glow run coming to Cedartown on Nov. 8
The Cedartown United Methodist Church’s youth group will once again be partnering with the Cedartown Parks and Recreation department to host the third annual Glow Run in November.
The 5K fun run and walk is being held on Sunday, Nov. 8, this year in order to accommodate the police department, who otherwise would be forced to work extra overtime to help with the event following Halloween.
The race will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Cedartown UMC church parking lot, and participants are encouraged to
deck themselves out in neon and sport glow in the dark paint for the event.
Joe Colquitt, the children and youth director at Cedartown UMC along with being the Parks and Recreation assistant director for the City of Cedartown, said that even pushing it back a week the event should draw a large number of runners for the evening event.
He said more than 100 participants have taken part in the run for the past two years.
Colquitt went before the city commission on Sept. 14 asking for permission once again to hold the run. They unanimously approved.
“It’s just a fun event to watch,” said commissioner Gary Martin.
All money raised through registrations will be split between the Cedartown United Methodist Church and the Parks and Recreation Department.
Colquitt said signups have already started and pre- registration costs are $20 for each runner who participates. Race packets can be picked up at Studio Fit or the gym at the Bert Wood Youth and Athletic Center, also known as Northwest Park.
Pre-registration ends on Saturday, Oct. 31.
T-shirts will be included for those who sign up early.
