Season will end October 29 at Rockmart Farmers Market
This has been a great year for the Rockmart Farmers Market, but it is time to mark your calendar for the last day of this season.
Everyone is invited to Water Street where local farmers will continue to set up produce displays through Oct. 29, 2015.
Until that date, the market will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursdays “under the oaks”.
Fall crops are being harvested and are mak- ing an appearance. These include: greens and lettuces, collards, kale, and bok choy along with Romaine lettuce, bibb lettuce, summer crisp, and red leaf lettuce.
The potted mums are blooming in a variety of colors and muscadines, scuppernongs, peppers and green beans are still abundant along with several varieties of field peas. Eggplants are still in harvest along with sweet potatoes, green onions, radishes and turnips. Kohlrabi and rainbow chard are plentiful and tomatoes, both green and red, along with okra and fall squashes can still be found at market.
Several types of apples are in harvest and along with all the veggies, look for pork and chicken, fresh eggs, local honey, baked goods, and canned goods.
