Sea­son will end Oc­to­ber 29 at Rockmart Farm­ers Mar­ket

This has been a great year for the Rockmart Farm­ers Mar­ket, but it is time to mark your cal­en­dar for the last day of this sea­son.

Ev­ery­one is in­vited to Wa­ter Street where lo­cal farm­ers will con­tinue to set up pro­duce dis­plays through Oct. 29, 2015.

Un­til that date, the mar­ket will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. Thurs­days “un­der the oaks”.

Fall crops are be­ing har­vested and are mak- ing an ap­pear­ance. These in­clude: greens and let­tuces, col­lards, kale, and bok choy along with Ro­maine let­tuce, bibb let­tuce, sum­mer crisp, and red leaf let­tuce.

The pot­ted mums are bloom­ing in a va­ri­ety of col­ors and mus­cadines, scup­per­nongs, pep­pers and green beans are still abun­dant along with sev­eral va­ri­eties of field peas. Egg­plants are still in harvest along with sweet pota­toes, green onions, radishes and turnips. Kohlrabi and rain­bow chard are plen­ti­ful and toma­toes, both green and red, along with okra and fall squashes can still be found at mar­ket.

Sev­eral types of ap­ples are in harvest and along with all the veg­gies, look for pork and chicken, fresh eggs, lo­cal honey, baked goods, and canned goods.
