New arrivals announced

Parent Technology Night was held recently at Eastside Elementary School.

The event gave opportunity to parents to learn how to navigate through all of the apps that students and teachers are utilizing at school and how to put those apps to work at home.

Principal Mark Lumpkin welcomed the crowd of parents and their children who gathered in the school cafeteria. He also explained how to find the school website and how to access and use the Powerschool Parent Portal.

Other topics included iPads and Safety, Myon, Study Island and Classworks and other tools that parents can use in partnership with their child and Polk School District to reach academic goals.

The event was described as a great learning process for parents who were given opportunity to experience what their child does with technology at school.

Michelle Cochran, who attended with her daughter Ivy, said it was a great workshop. “It gave me a better understanding of what the students are doing,” she said.

Samantha Waddell came with her children Jayten Waddell and Abby Elliott.

She agreed t he experience proved valuable and made it easier to understand what her children are doing in the classroom and assigned homework.
