The Christmas parade in Rockmart has been scheduled for Friday, Dec. 4.

Mark your calendars! The City of Rockmart Christmas Parade will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015.

The theme is “The Memories of Christmas”, derived from the Rockmart Community Chorus Christmas Concert planned for that same weekend in December.

A rain date has been set for 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015.

More details will be revealed next week on the City of Rockmart website – www.rockmart-ga.gov.

Artist Latasha King is an art instructor who participates in programs at the Rockmart Civic Arts Department (RCAC).

She offers classes in Calligraphy and Lettering Art sessions at RCAC from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays for ages 13 and up at $20 per session.

King has experience with ink calligraphy to brush lettering, design layout, painting, and drawing. The class offers students art inspiration with activities involving calligraphy, lettering, and design layout. Students will learn techniques and art expression.

She provides instruction on expressing cre- ativity through artwork and journaling working with ink, paint, pencils, and other media by applying calligraphy and lettering techniques.

Donna Kalish, a new dance instructor, will begin classes the week of Oct. 12, 2015.

“JUST DANCE 50 +” is a one hour session that will be conducted: Mondays and Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 12:30, or Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The six-week session is $4.00 per class. Students should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. The instructor provides props.

“CREATIVE MOVEMENT” for ages 4 to 7 years is also a onehour class offered: Wednesdays and Fridays, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The six-week session is $6.00 per class. Students should also wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. The instructor provides props

“MODERN DANCE” for ages 8 to 12 is offered: One hour is available from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. The classes are $6 (total $72) for sixweek session. Students wear black leotards and pink footless tights. The instructor provides props.

The exhibit will continue through Oct. 17, 2015. RCAC Art Gallery is open to the public and the admission is free on Fridays and Saturdays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. ( Most of the pieces on display are for sale and are available for prints.)

Rockmart Cultural Arts Center is seeking Visual Artists (18 years or older) for the annual Holiday Gift Shop. Any medium No entrance fee!* Handcrafted jewelry, pottery, turned or carved wood, gourds, paintings, walking sticks, note cards, photography, mixed media, sculptures, drawings, decorative art or other pieces of art for sale. The artist must create the art.

* The gallery collects a fee of 20% on all sales. Artists will be issued checks after the show has closed. Important Dates October 2: Email photos of items you wish to sell with a description and price list to rcac@ rockmart-ga.gov. List “HGS” in the subject line of the email followed by your name.

October 17: Deliver items (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
