“Being honored by my fellow teachers - the ground troops - is very humbling,” said Foster. “I am extremely grateful to them all, past and present, for shaping me into the teacher that I have become.”

Foster is also active in the community, serv- ing as a Cedartown City Commissioner. In addition, he serves on the boards of the Cedartown Development Authority, Performing Arts Commission, and Cedartown Wheelchair Athlete Training Camp & 5K Road Race.

An Eagle Scout, Foster is the son of J.P. and Sherri Foster of Cedartown, and the late Danna Edwards Foster.

Sergeant Barry Henderson of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office completed a course in Advanced Traffic Law conducted by the Georgia Police Academy Division of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth. The Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council for Advanced Certification require this course.

The course provides public safety officers an overview of the laws in the Georgia Traffic Code that pertain to moving vehicle violations and includes updates on rules of the road, which govern how a vehicle shall be operated safely on Georgia roads. Rules of the road not only encompass laws governing traffic, but also include common driving practices.
