Middle School Bulldogs blank Chattooga in the FCAA Championship game 28-0, finish off season 8-0

-

At least one group of Bulldogs are celebrating this week after they held their championship trophy aloft on home turf last week and finished off their season undefeated.

The CMS Bulldogs - coached by Jimmy Easterwood - took a 28-0 win over the Chattooga Middle School Indians in the final game of the season at Doc Ayers Memorial Field on Thursday, Oct. 29.

The Bulldogs took a

first half lead in the game over the Indians 14-0, but went scoreless in an 8-minute third quarter. The Bulldogs then pulled off a fumble recovery which was scooped up for a touchdown by the defense, and drove for a final touchdown in the game late.

Easterwood said the Indians “gave us a tough time,” but was glad that his team was able to pull off the win with big plays in the fourth quarter.

“It was a good job by the defense stepping up and shutting them down for the win,” he said.

The Bulldogs wrapped up their season with the championship, but Easterwood said he’s excited both for what is to come for the middle school, and for those players who will be moving up to the high school level in 2016.

“We’ve got a lot of seventh and eighth graders that will be moving up to junior varsity and varsity next year, and we’re hoping to see them help those guys out,” Easterwood said.
