McElwee to hold book signing at Polk Historical Museum
Bobby G. McElwee, Sr. will hold a book signing at the Polk County Historical Society Museum from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015.
The Museum is located at 205 S. College St., Cedartown.
McElwee, retired aircraft maintenance superintendent, U. S. Air Force and member of the Cedartown High School Class of 1955, will be signing his autobiographil book, “Things I Remember.” Reference to a number of local individuals and events are included.
The author is owner of Woodlands Inc., a historical restoration company. He also served as superintendent during restoration of Barnsley Gardens.
Additionally, McElwee has written and published the following: “Floyd County, Georgia, a Pictorial History” “Cherokee County, Alabama, a Pictorial History”, “Will You Survive Armageddon?” and “You Be the Judge” plus a number of short stories, articles and poems.
He restored the 1902 Stock Exchange Building in Adairsville, Georgia, created a dinner theatre facility in the Stock Exchange building, co-founder of “The Institute for Northwest Georgia History”, cofounder and director of “Rome Area History Museum”, founder and publisher of “Writers for Readers” magazine, playwright, producer and director of stage productions.
McElwee has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from University of Maryland, graduate of two Air Force Commands, NCO Academics and the Air Force Senior NCO Academy. He also enjoys golf and historic research.
