McEl­wee to hold book sign­ing at Polk His­tor­i­cal Mu­seum

Bobby G. McEl­wee, Sr. will hold a book sign­ing at the Polk County His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety Mu­seum from 1 to 4 p.m. Satur­day, Dec. 5, 2015.

The Mu­seum is lo­cated at 205 S. Col­lege St., Cedar­town.

McEl­wee, re­tired air­craft main­te­nance su­per­in­ten­dent, U. S. Air Force and mem­ber of the Cedar­town High School Class of 1955, will be sign­ing his au­to­bi­ographil book, “Things I Re­mem­ber.” Ref­er­ence to a num­ber of lo­cal in­di­vid­u­als and events are in­cluded.

The au­thor is owner of Wood­lands Inc., a his­tor­i­cal restora­tion com­pany. He also served as su­per­in­ten­dent dur­ing restora­tion of Barns­ley Gar­dens.

Ad­di­tion­ally, McEl­wee has writ­ten and pub­lished the fol­low­ing: “Floyd County, Ge­or­gia, a Pic­to­rial History” “Chero­kee County, Alabama, a Pic­to­rial History”, “Will You Sur­vive Ar­maged­don?” and “You Be the Judge” plus a num­ber of short sto­ries, ar­ti­cles and po­ems.

He re­stored the 1902 Stock Ex­change Build­ing in Adairsvill­e, Ge­or­gia, cre­ated a din­ner the­atre fa­cil­ity in the Stock Ex­change build­ing, co-founder of “The In­sti­tute for North­west Ge­or­gia History”, co­founder and di­rec­tor of “Rome Area History Mu­seum”, founder and pub­lisher of “Writ­ers for Read­ers” mag­a­zine, play­wright, pro­ducer and di­rec­tor of stage pro­duc­tions.

McEl­wee has a de­gree in Aero­nau­ti­cal Engi­neer­ing from Univer­sity of Mary­land, graduate of two Air Force Com­mands, NCO Aca­demics and the Air Force Se­nior NCO Acad­emy. He also en­joys golf and his­toric re­search.
